Joylan Farm is a family run farm situated right in the heart of Lancashire where Alan Swale and his wife Joyce, two sons John and David and grandson Matthew run their 600-strong Holstein pedigree cow herd.
Joylan first registered its dairy cows in 1972 and since then the herd has produced two Supreme Champions RASE; two Junior Champions RASE; three Reserve Champions RASE; four Reserve Junior Champions RASE; six times represented the breed in the Burke Trophy; one Supreme Champion National Holstein Show and three Supreme Champions E.D.F.
The Swale family see cow welfare as paramount and consistently achieve high standards of animal husbandry with some of the best cow comforts.
NEMi is delighted to have Alan and his family as one of the founder members of the 'Healthy Herd Programme', and the first farm in Britain to produce NEMi selenium-enriched milk.

The Bidlea Herd has produced the Supreme Champion at the European Dairy Event twice and NEMi is proud to have Ray as another founder member of the 'Healthy Herd Programme'.
Ray himself is the current NFU County Chairman and was the youngest ever winner of 'National Dairy Farmer of the Year' and 'Dairy Herd of the Year UK'. He is a keen supporter of Young Farmers associations, the Holstein Club and the Federation of Milk Producers Campaign.
